Native American Training Institute Veterans Symposium 2026

Veterans, service members, and dependents are invited and encouraged to attend to learn more about benefits and services provided by the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS), the Veterans Administration, and Indian Health Services. Veterans will have the opportunity to speak directly with government officials, agencies, and service providers, and apply for state and federal benefits.
Topics covered at the symposium will include:
- Medical and healthcare services
- VA benefits
- Business ownership and entrepreneurship
- Vocational training and higher education
- Veteran Service Officer training and certification
- Women veteran services and programs
- Transportation services
State benefits personnel will be available to assist eligible veterans and unmarried widows/widowers with applying for property tax waivers, exemptions, and park passes. Our certified Veterans Service Officers will be on-site to assist with VA benefits claims and to answer questions regarding VA healthcare eligibility and enrollment, disability compensation, and state benefits assistance.
Documents needed to verify eligibility:
- A copy of DD-214, NA Form 13038, NOAA Form 56-16, or PHS Form 1867
- VA award letter showing the percentage of disability and any other VA correspondence related to claiming benefits
- NM driver’s license, ID, voter registration card, or the most recent NM personal income tax return
- For widows/widowers: a copy of the marriage and death certificates
