Military & Veterans Day at the New Mexico State Fair, September 15, 2026
The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS), in partnership with the New Mexico National Guard (NMNG), invites veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard, and Reserve members to Military & Veterans Day at the State Fair on Tuesday, September 15, in Albuquerque.
Veterans, active-duty personnel, National Guard, and Reserve members receive free admission with a valid military ID or by wearing their uniform. Accepted forms of identification include a Uniformed Services Retiree ID Card, a driver’s license with a veteran designation, a VA Veterans Health ID Card, or a DD-214 separation papers. This free admission offer is exclusive to service members. Family members and guests must pay the regular admission fee, and parking fees still apply.
This annual event is dedicated to honoring those who have served and are still serving, with a day of appreciation, entertainment, and community resources. Veteran and military organizations, including the VA, will be on-site to provide information and services. NMDVS will also have its Mobile Unit available to assist with property tax waivers, the New Mexico State Park Lifetime Veteran Pass, and VA benefits claims.
Those seeking benefit services should bring military service documents, such as a DD-214 or equivalent; a VA Award Letter, if applicable; and a New Mexico ID or proof of residency. Widows or widowers should also bring copies of their marriage and death certificates.
Gates open at 10:00 a.m., with exhibits and information tables available until 3:00 p.m. A special ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Pavilion Stage, and the fairgrounds will close at 9:00 p.m.
Join us in honoring and celebrating New Mexico’s military and veteran community.
