Honor Guard volunteers from across New Mexico are invited to attend the 17th Annual Military Honors Training Conference and Competition on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Sonoma Ranch Golf Course in Las Cruces.

Hosted in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services and the New Mexico National Guard, this biannual training strengthens the skills and precision required to render military funeral honors with dignity and professionalism.

Participants will receive hands-on instruction from military funeral honors experts, take part in demonstrations and breakout sessions, and compete in team evaluations that include flag folding, presentation, sounding of Taps, and rifle volleys.

NMDVS supports more than 30 all-volunteer Honor Guard teams across the state who provide final honors for veterans and ensure no one is laid to rest without the recognition they have earned.

This training continues a longstanding commitment to uphold the highest standards of military funeral honors while honoring the service and sacrifice of New Mexico’s veterans.
